Bandits kill seven policemen, 12 villagers in Zamfara

On Thursday, bandits killed 12 villagers and seven policemen in an attack on a community in Zamfara State.

Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, the Commissioner of Police in the state, confirmed the attack occurred in Magarya village, located in the Zurmi Local Government Area.

He mentioned that the victims included a member of the Zamfara State Community Guards, also known as Askarawan Zamfara, along with four villagers.

The CP explained that approximately 300 bandits arrived on motorbikes, surrounded the policemen, and opened fire, killing seven officers and injuring several others.

“The bandits were frustrated by our officers who had thwarted their attempts at violence for over two years.

“Since police were deployed to the area, the bandits hadn’t had the opportunity to attack the village,” he stated.

The police commissioner assured that additional police personnel would be sent to the area.
