The Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage has restarted discussions regarding a new minimum wage for workers in the country.
The meeting is taking place at NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja.
According to Atlantic Reporters, the Federal Government’s delegation includes Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance; Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and National Planning; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the Minister of Labour; along with representatives from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Head of Service of the Federation.
The organized labor delegation is led by Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Although no state governors were present at the time of this report, Abdulateef Shittu, the Director General of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, attended the meeting.
Atlantic Reporters also noted that the labor unions suspended their nationwide indefinite strike on Tuesday after significantly impacting the economy.
