Ogbonnaya Onu’s death shocking, devastating, says Gov Uzodimma

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State expressed profound sorrow upon learning of the passing of former Governor of old Abia State and Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu. Dr. Onu’s demise, which occurred at a hospital in Abuja on Thursday, was described by Governor Uzodimma as a tragic and unforeseen event.

In a statement released by Oguwike Nwachuku, Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the Governor, it was conveyed that Governor Uzodimma was deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Onu, whom he esteemed highly as one of Nigeria’s intellectual and political luminaries, known for his remarkable kindness. Dr. Onu’s demise is seen as a great loss to not only the South East region but also to Nigeria and the global community, as he was a staunch advocate for national unity, peace, progress, and development.

The statement emphasized Dr. Onu’s influential role within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and extended condolences to the APC family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian government, the South East geopolitical zone, Ebonyi State government and its people, as well as all political associates of the late Dr. Onu.

Governor Uzodimma also expressed sympathy for Dr. Onu’s family, offering prayers for them to find solace in this difficult time, while also praying for the peaceful repose of the departed soul, who had previously aspired for the presidency under both the APC and the now-defunct All Peoples Party (APP).
