I Knew Where to Hit Gov’t Power, Without Me, Wike Wouldn’t Have Become Gov – Retired AIG Joseph Mbu

Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Joseph Mbu asserted that the current Federal Capital Territory Minister and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, owes his position to his support. Mbu made this assertion while addressing the political standoff in Rivers State between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Wike, as reported by Daily Trust.

Mbu claimed credit for Wike’s ascent to power, stating, “Wike wouldn’t be governor without my intervention as I knew how to strategically impact governmental authority.” Notably, on May 29, 2023, Siminalayi Fubara succeeded Wike in office.

Mbu, who admitted to not being acquainted with Fubura, acknowledged him as a responsible and trustworthy figure. The remarks by the retired AIG have elicited strong reactions from many Nigerians.
