WAEC Releases WASSCE-CBT Results

Yesterday, the West African Examinations Council, Nigeria, announced the release of results for the inaugural Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, 2024–First Series.

The council initiated a transition from traditional paper-based exams to Computer-Based Examinations for its private candidates. the innovative CB-WASSCE involved a hybrid approach where all questions were displayed on the computer screen.

The statement outlined that candidates provided answers to multiple-choice questions directly on the computer, while responses to essay and practical test questions were recorded in booklets provided to the candidates. The examination was conducted between Wednesday, January 31, and Saturday, February 17, 2024.

An analysis of candidates’ performance revealed that out of the 8,139 candidates who took the examination, 3,424 candidates, representing 42.07 percent, achieved credit grades or higher in a minimum of five subjects, with or without English Language and/or Mathematics.
