Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has claimed that security agencies were cognizant of the hideouts of bandits operating in the Northern region of Nigeria.
During an interview with journalists on Tuesday, Sheikh Gumi asserted that security personnel who accompanied him during several peace advocacy missions to the bandits in the forests a few years ago were familiar with the whereabouts of these criminal groups.
“I don’t believe they (security agents) are being honest with you. Whenever I visit, I am accompanied by them; I never go alone,” Sheikh Gumi declared, refuting the notion that security agencies were unaware of the locations of the bandits.
