William Troost-Ekong emphasized that the Super Eagles are not merely satisfied with reaching the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Under Jose Peseiro’s leadership, the team is set to confront the hosts in the final match of the competition on Sunday.
The Super Eagles are positioned to vie for their fourth title following a narrow victory over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
With an impressive record of five wins and one draw in six matches at the AFCON 2023 finals, Troost-Ekong expressed that clinching the championship would hold special significance for the Super Eagles.
“We’ve exerted considerable effort to reach the final,” Troost-Ekong conveyed to reporters. “Merely reaching the final isn’t enough for us; our aim now is to win the tournament.”
He acknowledged the impending challenge of the final match but emphasized the team’s excitement and determination, stating, “It will undoubtedly be a tough game, but it will also be momentous. Everyone is brimming with enthusiasm, and we’re fully prepared to compete in this AFCON final without needing any additional motivation.”
