Manchester United has responded to Victor Osimhen’s performance in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations round of sixteen. The Red Devils seem to have closely followed the match between the African powerhouses on Saturday.
Ademola Lookman scored the opening goal for Nigeria in the first half and added a second in the late stages of the second half, securing a well-deserved 2-0 triumph. Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana remained on the bench for Cameroon throughout the game, as the Indomitable Lions’ manager, Rigobert Song, opted for Onana’s cousin, Fabrice Ondoa, as the goalkeeper.
In their match review, Manchester United’s official website, under the management of Erik ten Hag, highlighted the significant role played by Napoli forward Osimhen in the lead-up to Lookman’s goal. The write-up acknowledged Osimhen’s strength in fending off Oumar Gonzalez and credited him for providing Lookman with a well-placed pass, leading to the 26-year-old’s goal from close range despite Ondoa’s efforts.
Reports suggest that Manchester United, along with several other clubs, is interested in securing the services of Victor Osimhen. Napoli has also confirmed that the Nigerian striker could potentially leave the Italian Serie A champions at the conclusion of the season.
