The Federal Government has reported that an explosive device caused a bomb blast resulting in the death of one operative from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the destruction of three electricity transmission towers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road. Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), conveyed this information in a statement issued on Friday. The explosion, which occurred on Thursday, impacted three transmission lines, according to TCN.
In the statement, TCN officially confirmed the destruction of three towers on the Maiduguri-Damaturu Transmission Line due to explosives on December 28, 2023. The incident not only led to the loss of three towers but also claimed the life of an NSCDC officer. TCN expressed deep sorrow over the tragic event, extending condolences to the family of the deceased NSCDC official. This unfortunate occurrence comes shortly after a report from a week ago, where vandals, using explosives, brought down towers T372 and T373 on the Gombe-Damaturu 330kV Synchronous Condenser transmission line, causing electricity blackouts in parts of the Northeast.
