The Delta State Police Command has reported the arrest and detention of an unidentified officer, captured in a viral video allegedly shooting a motorist. DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta Police Public Relations Officer, expressed disappointment with the officer’s unprofessional behavior in a post on his official social media handle.
The incident occurred during a stop-and-search operation on the East-West Road in Ughelli town, where the officer reportedly opened fire on the motorist following an argument. The victim, whose identity remains unknown, was shown in the viral video sustaining gunshot wounds to the leg and stomach.
In his social media post, PPRO Bright Edafe emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force does not tolerate unprofessional conduct from its personnel. He revealed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, promptly ordered the immediate detention of the implicated Police Inspector. The injured victim is currently receiving medical treatment, and the Commissioner assured the public of a commitment to justice.
