Anambra govt begins computer tests for recruitment of 3,000 teachers

The Anambra State Government has initiated the Computer-Based Tests (CBT) for candidates participating in the 2023 teachers’ recruitment process. In the previous year, the state government hired 5,000 teachers for public schools, and this year, an additional 3,000 teachers are being recruited.

The CBTs are administered with the assistance of the Anambra State ICT Agency, led by Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata. According to a press release from the Agency, signed by Agbata, the testing, which began on Thursday, has been proceeding smoothly. The Agency is offering technical support for the process, aligning with the government’s commitment to realizing the ‘Everything Technology and Technology Everywhere’ vision.

Agbata explained, “What we are looking at is a situation where we provide the milieu for the full exploration of technology across the board, and there can be no end to the benefits for Anambra people. That’s Mr. Governor’s vision, and that’s what we are driving.”

Applicants undergo verification by the ICT Agency’s technical staff using their national identity cards and examination slips before gaining access to the CBT hall. The examination duration is set at 30 minutes.

The Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, mentioned that over 19,500 applications were received through the application portal. Applicants are grouped in batches for the CBT, and Dr. Nwadinobi emphasized that the CBT is a crucial step in training digital teachers aligned with the governor’s strategy for advancing digital education in the state. The goal is to have technologically proficient teachers to support the vision of smart schools in Anambra.
