Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has cautioned Nigerians to be vigilant against fraudulent humanitarian and child support programs.
In a statement released on Sunday through her media aide, Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, the minister raised awareness about a deceptive child support initiative titled ‘Federal Government’s ₦50,000 Child Support Fund for all Nigerian parents.’ She emphatically declared the scheme to be counterfeit and clarified that it did not originate from the Ministry.
Dr. Edu revealed that all social intervention programs under the Ministry are meticulously documented and accessible to the public. The statement emphasized, “The so-called ‘Child Support Scheme’ is fake and is not and can never be any of the Ministry’s schemes.” It further highlighted that the Ministry is taking action with security agencies to expose the individuals behind the fraudulent scheme. The public was urged to disregard the scheme’s link to prevent falling victim to deceitful attempts to extract their hard-earned money.
