Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has revealed the initial action he took after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Uzodinma shared that he immediately went to the chapel to express gratitude to God for ensuring his victory in the election during a press conference held in Owerri, the state capital, on Monday.
The governor also expressed his deep humility and abiding faith in God as he accepted the honor and privilege of serving as governor for a second term. Acknowledging the role of God in his achievements, Uzodinma emphasized that his first response to the news of his victory was to visit the chapel and thank God for His goodness to him and the people of Imo State.
During the press conference, Uzodinma dedicated his electoral success to God Almighty, emphasizing that he can never thank God enough for his repeated victories. INEC declared Uzodinma the winner of the governorship election on Sunday, with the governor polling the highest number of votes, securing 540,308 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, came in second with 71,503 votes, and the Labour Party candidate, Athan Achonu, secured the third position with 64,081 votes.
