Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State is awaiting a verdict today in his case regarding allegations of certificate forgery made against him by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The judgment will be delivered at the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo. The governor had filed a lawsuit against the NYSC to contest the allegations.
A notice of the judgment delivery, associated with the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1611/2023, indicates that the judgment will be issued shortly.
At the time of this report, the courtroom is filled with supporters, political followers, and friends of the governor who have gathered to observe the proceedings.
Before his inauguration on May 29, Governor Mbah initiated legal action against the NYSC and its Director, Corps Certification, Ibrahim Muhammad. This legal action was in response to the NYSC’s publication of a disclaimer denying the issuance of a discharge certificate to him on January 6, 2003.
On May 15, Justice Ekwo had issued an injunction preventing the NYSC, Muhammad, and any of their representatives from engaging in such publications until the substantive matter was heard and determined.
