Gunmen have seized the two wives of the Chairman of Kiyawa Local Government Council in Jigawa State. According to a local resident who spoke to DAILY POST, the incident occurred on Friday night when a group of criminals invaded Kiyawa town and managed to enter the chairman’s residence, where they proceeded to abduct the two wives.
The source explained that the suspected criminals fired gunshots into the air, causing panic and chaos in the town. Notably, one of the abducted wives is in an advanced stage of pregnancy and could go into labor at any moment.
SP Lawal Shisu Adam, the spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police Command, confirmed the incident. He stated that it occurred on Friday night following a period of indiscriminate gunshots that created fear among the local residents. SP Adam also reported that no injuries were reported during the incident.
He mentioned, “Upon receiving information about the abduction, the state police command deployed a special police unit to rescue the victims and apprehend the suspected criminals.”
A source from the family informed DAILY POST that, as of now, the kidnappers have not established any contact with the family.
