NAPTIP rescues 14 children trafficked from Plateau

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued 14 children who were trafficked from Plateau to Lagos.

NAPTIP rescued the children after receiving a tip from an informant. The children, who are aged 13 to 17, were being used as domestic workers and salespeople.

NAPTIP is working to curb child trafficking in Plateau, but it needs the support of the state government. The government has promised to enroll the rescued children in schools and skill acquisition programs.

The government has also warned parents against releasing their children for such exploitative ventures. It says that anyone found culpable will not be spared.

The government has also promised to intensify awareness against child trafficking, particularly in rural communities.
