Governor Alex Otti of Abia State revealed on Sunday that his administration had taken steps to significantly reduce the cost of governance and save funds.
Otti disclosed this during his monthly media interaction session held at the Government House in Umuahia. He explained that the money saved from extravagant expenditures carried out by previous administrations had enabled his government to meet its financial obligations, including paying salaries and pensions, and also to mobilize contractors for the ongoing major development projects.
“We have managed to curtail unnecessary spending, such as making payments to certain ‘stakeholders,’ thus saving money from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC),” Otti stated. “In the new Abia, earning money through hard work is the way to secure funds.”
Otti emphasized that the current administration is concentrating on financial restructuring to ensure that the state’s resources are managed professionally to yield the best outcomes. He reassured the people of the state that their finances are in capable hands.
