2023 budget: Ogun Assembly probes MDAs, local govts

The Ogun State House of Assembly is set to initiate the evaluation of the third-quarter 2023 budget performance, commencing on Monday. This assessment will encompass the various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) of both the state government and local government councils to determine their adherence to the 2023 Appropriation Law.

In a statement released by the Clerk of the Assembly and Head of Legislative Service, ‘Deji Adeyemo, it was emphasized that this undertaking forms an integral part of the legislative branch’s oversight responsibilities, aimed at promoting accountability and transparency.

Adeyemo clarified that this initiative aligns with the provisions of sections 128 and 129 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The assessment of budget performance is scheduled to commence daily at 10 am and conclude on Monday, October 30, 2023. Adeyemo urged all MDAs of the state government, as well as local government councils, to provide the necessary documents and information to ensure the successful execution of this exercise.
