Mercy Eke, a former participant of Big Brother Naija, has asserted that, apart from her dedicated fan base, a majority of the viewers did not support her during the recent All-Stars edition of the reality show due to biased sentiments.
In a recent interview with Hero Daniels, Mercy became emotional as she lamented that her only “offense” was aspiring for “more.” She revealed that she began to question herself during the last season of Big Brother, wondering whether her ambition, particularly as a woman, was excessive. She felt that people made her feel as if she was overly ambitious. Mercy admitted to asking Biggie, the show’s organizers, about this self-doubt.
She expressed her internal struggle, saying, “In my head, I started questioning myself: Do I want too much? Should I have not looked for this? Okay fine, I’m not hungry but if I want this green, can I not want this pink? And is there a problem if I want white? It made me start questioning myself too much. Wetin I even get? I don’t even have anything but people made it like let others be there.”
Mercy went on to say that she felt she had minimal support, except from her dedicated fans. She also discussed the challenges she faced and the negativity she encountered, which she deemed as “pure hatred and wickedness” during the show. She expressed her gratitude for her decision to return to the Big Brother house, as it was an eye-opener to how people perceived her and how she was perceived as someone who was simply striving for more.
She concluded by sharing her determination to maintain her composure and continue to shine despite the unwarranted negativity, emphasizing that her only “crime” was her desire for more success and achievement.
