The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged the newly elected officials of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to align themselves with President Bola Tinubu’s 8-point agenda and actively participate in enhancing the country’s reputation. The minister made this request during a courtesy visit to his office by the NIPR board members on Thursday.
As a fellow of the Institute, the minister pledged his unwavering support and expressed the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with reputable organizations and stakeholders in the nation’s revitalization and the reorientation of the Nigerian populace. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to engage with the NIPR in this regard.
He also endorsed the board’s initiative to promote sectoral specialization among its members as a means to elevate professionalism and fortify the institution. He highlighted the need to diversify the profession, which has traditionally been unifocal.
The minister expressed his gratitude to the NIPR members for their visit and assured them that the board would be inaugurated soon to commence the efficient execution of its planned initiatives.
Dr. Ike Neliaku, the President and Chairman of the governing council of NIPR, conveyed that the council members were visiting as a courtesy to inform the minister about their planned programs and activities. They also expressed their eagerness to cooperate with the ministry in the endeavor of nation-building. The NIPR intends to conduct a nationwide campaign aimed at rejuvenating Nigeria, focusing on three core areas: citizen education and value reorientation, a resurgence of locally made goods, and excellence in service delivery. They indicated their intention to work in conjunction with the ministry to implement this campaign.
