Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has shed light on his altercation with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson following Arsenal’s recent significant victory over the Premier League champions last weekend.
In that game, Arsenal secured a crucial 1-0 victory against Pep Guardiola’s team at Emirates Stadium, thanks to Gabriel Martinelli’s 86th-minute winning goal. After the final whistle, tensions ran high, leading to a confrontation between Manchester City’s Kyle Walker and Erling Haaland with Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.
Gabriel Jesus, who had moved from Manchester City to Arsenal in the summer of 2022, had a clash with his former club teammate Ederson during stoppage time, as the goalkeeper brought down his fellow Brazilian compatriot due to time-wasting.
Both players received yellow cards for the incident. However, Jesus downplayed the altercation, mentioning that he maintains a positive relationship, not only with Ederson but with others as well.
Speaking to reporters about the tussle with Ederson, Jesus said, “I have a good relationship, not just with Ederson. But on the pitch, it’s normal. On the pitch, he defends his team, and I defend mine. It was a moment when we were winning, and it was not easy to beat them. We were winning, and I held the ball there. Anyway, he ended up giving me a push, but afterward, everything was normal. We came together and talked. That’s it.”
