The Special Military Task Force in Plateau State has reported the apprehension of two well-known kidnappers and 89 other individuals involved in criminal activities within Plateau and neighboring Kaduna State.
This information was conveyed through a statement issued by Captain Oya James, the Media Officer of the task force. The arrests resulted from a series of operations conducted by the troops in the preceding weeks.
During this period, the troops also achieved the conviction of four suspects and the liberation of numerous kidnap victims and stolen cattle. These operations were carried out under Operation Hakorin Damisa IV, conducted by troops of Operation Safe Haven from September 25 to October 4, 2023.
The suspects, under questioning, admitted their involvement in the kidnapping of seven University of Jos students in July 2023. Additionally, items seized from the suspects included an AK-47 rifle loaded with 12 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Furthermore, acting on credible information, the brave troops arrested Mr. Goma Abubakar and Jibril Abass in connection with the attack on Takania village in the Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where six individuals were brutally murdered.
The commander assured the public that once investigations are completed, the arrested suspects will be brought before a court of law.
