Tinubu certificate saga: Peter Obi rejects Atiku’s invitation

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declined the request from his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, to join him in the ongoing battle against President Bola Tinubu.

This development comes after the former vice president, during an International Press Conference in Abuja on Thursday, encouraged Peter Obi and Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) to join him in his quest for justice.

The context for this request is the controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s certificate, which Atiku claims was forged. Atiku intends to use the academic records provided by the Chicago State University (CSU) in his legal proceedings against the president in the Supreme Court.

In response, Peter Obi, in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, explained that he is currently focused on seeking to reclaim his allegedly stolen mandate in the Supreme Court. The statement emphasized Peter Obi’s commitment to justice and integrity in leadership.

It stated, “The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi is presently in the Supreme Court seeking to reclaim his allegedly stolen mandate, and he is dedicated to this cause. He has consistently emphasized the importance of leaders being exemplary and living lives worthy of emulation. Nigeria’s progress is linked to the integrity and honor of those who lead the nation. We welcome any other party willing to join our pursuit of a nation where justice prevails.”
